I really got to know them well page to page.The Fault in Our Stars is a 2014 American coming-of-age romance film directed by Josh Boone, based on John Green's 2012 novel of the same name. I think this is why this book made me become so attached to each person. There are parts of this story that are extremely sad, and we see the two main characters go through the entire spectrum of emotions. No matter who reads this book, I think they relate with some character in some way. There are parts where I literally laughed out loud whilst reading! The relationship Hazel Grace and Augustus share is so adorable.
This novel really has a special message to any teenager struggling with their health like me and so many others!Īmid all of the pandemonium of being sick teenagers, John gives each character such a great sense of humor. John wrote this book in her honor, and it just makes the book have so much more meaning. This is not a true story, but it is inspired by a real girl named Esther Earl who lost her battle to cancer when she was sixteen. The book is from the point of view of Hazel, and throughout the entire story, I genuinely felt like it was her speaking out. John Green does a wonderful job of showing a very real side to illnesses, and also a very real side to teenagers in general. “Nothing is sugar-coated,” in the words of Hazel Grace.
